SSD ASIC Design Engineer

The SSD team creates NAND controller ASIC designs for worldwide customers. Our designs are industry-leading in frugality and operational excellence, and are critical to the success of SMI business and the more than multimillion customers who use SMI flash controllers today. Our ASIC Engineers solve challenging technology problems, and build architecturally sound, high-quality components to enable SMI SSD/Portable SSD to realize critical business strategies.

The ideal candidate for this role will be an innovative self-starter. You will be an SSD/Portable SSD ASIC expert with experience in making architectural tradeoffs to optimize SSD performance for a variety of use cases. You will work with engineers across the company as well as external customers and lead ASIC development efforts on custom solid-state devices. You will collaborate with internal and external development engineers (architecture, hardware, validation, software services). SMI Engineers are shaping the way people use consumer devices/mobile phones/computers and designing the future of NAND flash controller technology – come help us make history!

 

What you will do:

You will be a member of a team designing ASIC for non-volatile memory devices, including USB/Portable SSDs. You will be a part of the ASIC effort from conception, through validation and into production. You will contribute to ASIC development and support device characterization and benchmarking efforts. You will work closely with SMI FW engineers to tailor devices for customers’ needs.

Job Description:
  • RTL/Digital circuit design, synthesis, and simulation/verification.
  • FPGA synthesis, verification.
  • Chip integration, algorithm implementation, and interface design.
  • Generate test pattern.
 

Requirement:
  • Master's degree and/or PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or related fields with 1 years of experience.
  • Familiar with ASIC Flow / EDA Tool (Synthesis DCG , Scan at-speed insertion, LEC , CLP , PrimeTime STA , PTPX , Low power flow implement). Experience in CAD Team is a plus.
  • Familiar with ASIC/FPGA Integration(ARM CPU architecture , AXI / AHB / VCI Bus arbiter , Clock tree scheme , ASIC / SOC Power optimization flow, Xilinx FPGA V7 Scale).
  • Familiar with high-speed NAND flash spec and control
  • Experience in NAND flash related product is a plus
  • Familiar with USB protocol is a plus
